At least 11 people were injured when a UAV struck an apartment block in the Republic of Adygea

A Ukrainian drone struck an apartment block in southern Russia on Tuesday evening, local officials have said.

The UAV caused a fire in a residential building and in a nearby parking lot in the village of Novaya Adygea, Adygea Republic Governor Murat Kumpilov said on Telegram. He added that 11 people were injured, including two children.

Video footage from the scene shows several vehicles engulfed in flames. 

Telegram news channels said eyewitnesses heard several loud explosions. Photos on social media show heavy damage to the apartment block’s facade, with several balconies destroyed. 

At least 12 apartments and around 20 vehicles were damaged, Telegram channels said.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated earlier that 53 drones were intercepted on Tuesday evening, including seven over Krasnodar Region, which borders Adygea.
